Does Your Law Firm Have Online Reviews?
by Attorneys Online, Inc. @ Attorneys Online, Inc.
Tue Mar 28 13:37:15 PDT 2017
If your law firm is not concentrating on getting positive online reviews on Google+, Facebook and Yelp, your website and business will suffer. Whether you like it or not, most people looking for an attorney online will read reviews before choosing what law firm to call. A number of studies show that consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations, and most consumers read online reviews before purchasing a product. Further, in addition to the consumers themselves, Google uses online reviews when its algorithms are calculating which law firm websites will be in the top spots for business listings and organic listings. This means that a lack of reviews will hurt your search engine optimization, your organic placement and ultimately, your bottom line. How Do Law Firms Get Clients to Write Positive Reviews? It’s hard to ask a client to write a review—we get it. However, when you have...

Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Traffic Source
by stevenhuskey@gmail.com @
Thu Nov 17 08:05:27 PST 2016
Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Traffic Source There are many kinds of traffic sources. The traffic source is how a visitor finds or gets to your page. Continuing with our Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales series, knowing Analytics definitions will help you get the most out of your reports in a timely manner. Direct traffic – when someone types in “Jack’s Diving Locker”. This kind of traffic tends to get decent time on site since the viewer is familiar with the business already. Referral traffic – a link coming from another site. It could be a link from a blog, a newsletter, or Google, etc. Organic search – when a user goes to Google.com and types in what they’re looking for. This generally leads to high performing traffic with engaged visitors. Paid search – Adwords traffic. When you pay for traffic, you want that traffic to be people who are going to many pages on your site, people who are going to spend a good amount of time. You want significant engagement. Your Analytics report will tell you how your viewers are finding your site. If you are using Adwords, you will see how valuable your display ads are to your sales. For example, you are shopping on Amazon for shoes. An ad for Nordstrom comes up showing shoes similar to what you are looking at. Would you click on it? Probably. That’s how display ads work. A tip from the Wizard of Google: You can also use your traffic source report to evaluate how both your website and mobile site are performing. You can see how long the viewer stays and how they got to your site. Hopefully, both sites are evenly keeled. If not, it is vital that you update the poorly performing site ASAP. If you would like more information on Using Google Analytics, contact us at CustomerService.High5@gmail.com. The first consultation is always free. As you can see, Google Analytics is a big subject. Stick with us. More to come. __________________________________________________________________________________ Steven Huskey – The Wizard of Google, is the founder and Chief Operations Officer at High 5 Promotions, an Austin-based Internet Marketing and SEO company. How much you spend on local SEO can range from a few hundred dollars per month (if you go the DIY route) to tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars per month based on what services you are paying for, as well as how many physical offices or locations you have. For example, a small time car mechanic with one shop could get reasonable local SEO work for $500-$2,000/month from a reputable company, but a large corporate chain of stores like Dominos that has thousands of locations could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on their local SEO. Since there is such a big range, let’s break it down and look at the options as well as the costs associated with each...

Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Affinity Categories
by stevenhuskey@gmail.com @
Thu Dec 01 08:05:23 PST 2016
Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Affinity Categories Affinity Categories tell you what your customers like to do when they aren’t looking at your site. You can set up your segmenting to drill down and get past the boring user information and into this good stuff. You are nearly through this blog series. Peanut butter and jelly jazz hands to you for your participation! Don’t hesitate to contact us for deeper info. Does your customer like to spear fish? Do they like to bowl? Are most of the sites they look at about classic cars? Maybe you sell original t-shirts, patches, and bumper stickers featuring national parks. People who identify themselves as outdoor enthusiasts, travel buffs, or are interested in nature photography are very likely to stay on your website. Maybe they are music or movie lovers, it’s highly possible they too will stay on your site. These people will probably also return to your site. Your bounce rate stays nice and low while your capture rate stays nice and high with this kind of traffic. * Sometimes you’ll come across some very surprising user data. I have a Harley Davidson client whose affinity data shows that their customers also view home décor sites. Who knew? You can find some priceless outlier data like this. Use it to your advantage. It is a marketing gold mine. A tip from the Wizard of Google: Google crunches bounce rate numbers. They want to know how many times viewers have found your site relevant. If you have a low bounce rate, you are relevant and Google will reward you. If you have a high bounce rate, Google will penalize you. Use your Analytics reports to keep your bounce rate low. If you would like more information on your Affinity Reporting, contact us at CustomerService.High5@gmail.com. The first consultation is always free. We will complete the Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales blog series with Behavior Flow. An ending you don’t want to miss. Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Mediums
by stevenhuskey@gmail.com @
Thu Oct 27 08:05:40 PDT 2016
Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Mediums Mediums direct where your site’s traffic is coming from. There are many different kinds of mediums; email newsletters, cost per click, or referrals to name a few. What medium brought you to this week’s blog? Our series continues. It is vital that you understand which mediums people are using that lead to them spending a good amount of time on your website. Breadcrumbs is a great app that will show you which site your viewer just came from and the sites they go to after yours. It goes further than Adwords which will go up to one page (and it doesn’t always even do that). You can even use programs that will put a pixel on your screen that will travel with your viewer. The viewers’ cookies can be disabled and this pixel will still follow them for several sites. You’ll be shown the whole bread crumb path. That is a great reporting tool. A tip from the Wizard of Google: Every single client that I have who uses a newsletter receives great responses to their website. Not everyone is going to click through, but the ones that do are going to devour your site. If you send your newsletter to 1,000 people, you may only get 7 or 8 people to your website, but those 7 or 8 will be engaged. Engaged people turn into customers. Customers turn into conversions. If you would like more information on Using Google Analytics, contact us at CustomerService.High5@gmail.com. The first consultation is always free. More treats from The Wizard of Google’s candy shop of knowledge next week. ************************************************************************************************************************ Steven Huskey – The Wizard of Google, is the founder and Chief Operations Officer at High 5 Promotions, an Austin-based Internet Marketing and SEO company. A Tip From The Wizard of Google – 12/1/16 I can’t tell you how many time people say “I want my About Us page right here on the NAP bar.” I have never seen an About Us page located there unless it’s the site of a neurosurgeon or maybe a plastic surgeon. It only makes sense on a site for a service that demands expertise and a decorated background. On regular sites, it’s never one of the highest ranking pages. There is no reason to make it prominent. Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Acquisition Report
by stevenhuskey@gmail.com @
Thu Oct 13 08:05:26 PDT 2016
Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Acquisition Report The Acquisition Report is where you will likely start when you get into your reporting. It provides a window into your users’ Acquisition-Behavior-Conversion (ABC) cycle: how you acquire users, their behavior on your site after acquisition, and their conversion patterns. The Acquisition Report is where you should always start your analytics journey. This report shows you where all your traffic is coming from. You can see the percent of new sessions, new users, bounce rate, pages per session, and average session duration. Those are all fantastic metrics that need to be viewed. Using this report allows you to use them on a granular level so you can see where the best traffic is coming from. For example, in this screen shot, you can see that the average session duration for an organic search is 4 minutes and 9 seconds. That’s maybe from someone who doesn’t know what they’re looking for. Whereas the average session duration for a direct search is someone who knows exactly what they’re looking for. Their search is 3 minutes and 52 seconds. There’s a slight disparity there, but both are very relevant traffic. Then you come down and look at the social where the average session duration is only 1 minute and 50 seconds. The pages per session is only 2 ½ minutes. That’s not bad. In terms of social traffic, that’s actually pretty good. However, it’s definitely not the same quality as the organic search, the direct search, or even the page search. Interesting to note on the page search – you’re getting an additional page per session out of it. The bounce rate is significantly lower in the page search than it is with the social, or display. The Acquisition Report is where you should always start. If you want to click through onto any of its fields – organic, direct, page search, etc., then it will give you more information so that you can get more granular with all of the statistics. I know this content is rather complex. If you would like more in depth information, contact us at CustomerService.High5@gmail.com. The first consultation is always free. What does the Average Session Duration mean for your online reporting? The Wizard of Google fills you in next week. Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Demographics
by stevenhuskey@gmail.com @
Thu Nov 24 08:05:22 PST 2016
Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Demographics Let’s discuss how to use demographics data to your benefit. It’s key to know who is responding to your site. Is it 18-year-olds or 65-year-olds? Men or women or an equal percentage of both? As we continue this series of blogs, I hope you’ve not only been learning a lot but also putting what you’ve learned into practice. Ready for more? Say you’re a Harley Davidson shop. Think about the demographics data there. What age range is likely to buy a Harley? You need to make at least $40,000 a year to get financing, does the typical 18-year-old bring in that kind of cash? Here’s how to use this data to make your website sell better. Look at the pages per session. Maybe the average page per session is 5.83, but you can see that when people return to your website, they are spending more time than they spent on their first visit. So you decide that you want to market to returning visitors. How do you market to them? By using Remarketing. You can Remarket through either Analytics or Adwords. It is cheap and it is worth it. It can help your bounce rate go down and your time per session go up. When people come back, it is because they are more interested. When a relevant visitor is on your page, they will leave with a Google placed pixel that will follow them from site to site for the length of time you specify. Google will place your Adwords ads in front of them that entire amount of time. While doing this, Google learns and will give you more data. You will find out which websites they go to and what their interests are. It is clutch for marketing. And it only costs about $3 for 1,000 ads. Why wouldn’t you do that? Chances are the age range of visitors that don’t come back to your Harley site are 18 – 24 and 25 – 34. When they are on your site, the bounce rate is pretty high. They are not coming back. But if you consider the age ranges 45 – 54 and 55 – 64, the bounce rate would probably be 10% lower. When you look at age and interests together, you have a highly useful report. The time on site for visitors who are engaged could be a good 6 minutes. For people who may not really want to be there, it would be closer to 3 minutes. This is the kind of demographic data you can use in terms of age and gender. A tip from the Wizard of Google: Google profiles online mobile usage over time and pieces it together. It is even linked to PayPal. That’s how they come up with demographics. If you would like more information on Using Google Analytics, contact us at CustomerService.High5@gmail.com. The first consultation is always free. Next week we discuss Affinity Categories and the surprising data they can contain. This will be a short post, and will eventually include links to all connected posts in this series. Come back for more! Google Analytics is a Gold Mine It’s hard to ever exhaust the mine of juicy Google info contained in Google Analytics, but we’re gonna show as much as we can in this series. We’re professional, qualified Google Consultants in the Austin area (though we serve clients across the US and internationally), and are excited to share the info we’ve gleaned through the years. Quoting Steve Huskey, “Marketing Analytics is the original Big Data. This is predictive analytics. I got my first taste of predictive analytics in 1990 when I was in 9th grade. I had just tied the national record for the 200m dash, and the Olympic track team called. They wanted to test me. They put me through a bevy of tests and at the end they used predictive analytics to tell me how fast I would be as an adult.” Steven Huskey – The Wizard of Google, is the founder and Chief Operations Officer at High 5 Promotions, an Austin-based Internet Marketing and SEO company. Adwords Q&A with High 5 Promotions Founder Steve Huskey
by High 5 Contractor @
Thu Mar 30 08:03:25 PDT 2017
Have Adwords Questions? The Answer Might Be Here This is a discussion with the founder of High 5 Promotions and a prospective client. It contains a lot of common questions about Google Adwords, so we thought we’d post them from the perspective of a Paid Search Agency. Feel free to post questions in the comments, or simply contact us if you have need for a deeper dive into your own Adwords campaign. Adwords Express or No? Q: Should I continue running / redoing my site while continuing on with AdWords Express and a $700 / month budget? Or should I have a second party marketing company take over my website and PPC? If I go with the marking company, I won’t own the site, so if I stop using them I will lose any SEO benefits. A: I advise continuing the use of AdWords Express and possibly increasing your budget to $900 – $1000 per month. The long-term benefits of SEO are what you need to be chasing. Using the marketing company’s page will not benefit your business in the short term. These pages are designed for businesses who want a second page or don’t have a website. I would stick with Adwords Express. Own the website and own the marketing campaign. Adwords for Hyper Local Targeting? Q: One thing I don’t like about Adwords Express is not being able to control the radius to less than 10 miles or not being able to target markets like Pflugerville. Do you have advice for this? A: You could target people in Pflugerville via remarketing. It’s important to remember that Pflugerville is a bedroom city. Most people work in Austin and sleep in Pflugerville. The thing you need to prioritize before everything else is setup, is installation of Google Analytics. That will make a 20 – 30% difference in the performance of your Advertising campaigns. The next thing I would do is link with Google Tag Manager and get familiar with their tools. Facebook vs. Google Adwords: What’s Better? Q: I have been listening to some videos on Facebook of a business owner who says he pulled completely off marketing on Google AdWords and is marketing on Facebook now instead. What do you feel about this strategy? A: Facebook can be good for you if you have created content for them on your site. If not, the people will bounce, according to Google Analytics. Facebook is artificially inflating their cost per click. They are using the same cost per click as Google without having the competition. If you try Facebook, ensure that you have Analytics linked properly with Facebook. Check the traffic after a week or so to determine if it’s working. Let the numbers be your guide.

Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Average Session Duration
by stevenhuskey@gmail.com @
Thu Oct 20 08:05:29 PDT 2016
Using Google Analytics to Drive More Sales – Average Session Duration From the moment someone opens your website to the moment they leave is the average session duration. If a visitor spends 4 minutes and 45 seconds on your website, they are engaged. This is the behavior you want to attract and incent. How have I kept your attention over the course of this blog series? Have I made you want to come back each week to learn more? Isn’t this puppy thee cutest? A bounce rate is when someone comes to your website and then leaves within 4 seconds. They bounce. If they stay for 5 seconds, they are considered a visitor. The average bounce rate for any site is 60%, so if yours is lower your site is performing extremely well. * If they stay longer than 4 seconds, Google puts a cookie on their computer that follows them around for however long you specify. This cookie will show your visitor ads for your site as many times a day as you choose. Google made this type of Adwords advertising very low cost – about $3 for 1,000 ads. This is another way having a low bounce rate can really help your sales. Five minutes in today’s age of smart phones is a long time. It’s what you want. Adversely, 12 seconds of mobile traffic on your site is bad traffic. If you look at your acquisition report and see that traffic is considerably longer on your website than your mobile site, it could be that people don’t like your mobile site. What if you are paying for mobile traffic and it’s that bad? Not good. You need to update your site right away. Mobile sites account for, and participate in, a large percentage of conversions. A tip from the Wizard of Google: You can skew your average session duration report if you’re building your website. It takes hours and hours to build a site. This time should not be included in your working data. If you would like more information on Using Google Analytics, contact us at CustomerService.High5@gmail.com. The first consultation is always free. Up next we meet up with Mediums. See you there. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Steven Huskey – The Wizard of Google, is the founder and Chief Operations Officer at High 5 Promotions, an Austin-based Internet Marketing and SEO company. This is now the largest personal injury verdict ever in Colorado. Tom tried the case over two weeks with co-counsel Jim Gilbert, his law partner Phil Chupik and attorneys Tony Bolson and Anne Dieruf. She sustained permanent paralysis of her legs and lost the substantial use of her hands.
